Plot
This movie is based on a young teenage girl named Lisa Swallows. Lisa is trying to get over the loss of her mother, who was stabbed and murdered by an axe two years ago. So Lisa's dad marries an egoistic woman named Janet, who has a daughter called Taffy. Lisa spends time at Grove Cemetery, but little does she know, that she awakens a dead man. That creature's body parts are missing and need electricity to move. It takes some of the body parts of Janet and Doug and is attached to itself. But soon, the police find out about the missing persons and the involvement of Lisa, but she doesn't help. The creature confesses his love to Lisa when Lisa asks about her parents to him. Lisa accepts his love and tells him to give current shocks to get herself killed. Finally, the story ends with Lisa happily reuniting with the creature.
Star Performance
Kathryn Newton played a disturbing and compelling performance as a whole. Liza Soberano and Cole Sprouse should have delivered their roles in a better way to have known about the depth of the characters. The overall casting is excellent.
Analysis
Zelda Williams created this movie in a delightful, funny, disturbing, and weird way possible. The story shows many hilarious and cute moments that keep the audience hooked. The cinematography of this movie is intriguing with the combination of neon blue and pink color theme. Also the film showcases the incredible performances of the characters to the viewers. The fashion sense is so attractive to view, and the characters played by various talented actors keep you anticipating throughout the end. The story is very engaging unlike other horror movies from the beginning to the end, but some of the parts are not suitable for everyone to watch. The movie's overall presentation should have been made in a better way to get the spotlight it deserved.
