, and she meets a hippie radio host and a small time journalist, Mingus, who lives with his cute little daughter. They decide to move in together and live cozily like a family. A family mayhem ensues when Marion’s old but young at heart and jolly good fellow father, her oversexed sister and her obnoxious boyfriend, un-invited, decide for an overseas visit to New York to see Marion. The two days are full of utter chaos,\ which presses all the buttons possible on the couple's relationship.
Analysis:
It’s a delight to watch a mess with neurotic blabbering and unmanageable lies. The movie is not a surprise, especially coming from Julie Delphy, which is big on laughs and low on pretensions, just what we would hope for in a

or a Seinfield movie. It’s an emotionally sincere movie made with love. She opens the movie to introduce her son from the previous relationship. By showing a puppet show, an irony to make us understand how mundane her life has become since the breakup. Mayhem, chaos strikes her life when her child fisher father, a friendly and well mannered one, who specializes in fishing even when he is underwater, to her sister Rose who is snippy, jealous and extremely sex obsessed with her naturally racial commenter boyfriend come to stay with the couple. The movie is like a palate which offers variety. While you have Marion and Mingus, trying to overcome the difficulties of having un called visitors, Rose, on the other hand, expresses her jealousy in a different manner. She either snaps, or walks around naked, which means, is she trying a hand over Mingus? Or is she generally showing off her nude self to the horny neighbors. Wait, that Mingus who locks himself up, and talks to a Barack Obama poster when he thinks things are out of control? I may have forgotten to mention it but Marion is an artist. Well this works up and connects as the main reason for the uncalled visit. But in all this chaos, does the relationship between Marion and Mingus get affected? Family, relations and cross cultural problems are not a new theme for Hollywood. The essence of the movie, lies in the fact how Julie has artistically put every varied puzzle pieces into a laugh riot, which makes sense. It is a delight to watch what Julie has for us!
