Vairamuthu Grabs The National Award For The 7th Time!

“Vairamuthu,” the popular lyricist of Tamil film industry, has grabbed the National Award for the best lyricist for Entha Pakkam song in Dharma Durai, featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Tamannaah Bhatia. This is his 7th National Award for the legendary lyricist. This is the tenth time Tamil cinema is getting the National Award in the Best Lyrics Category. Vairamuthu received his first award for his lyrics in the film Mudhal Mariyadhai directed by “P Bharathiraja,” in the year 1986. The music composition was by “Ilayaraja.” In 1993, he got the National Award for Chinna Chinna Aasai from Roja, directed by Mani Ratnam and the music is composed by “A R Rahman.” In 1995, he received it for “Karuthamma,” in 2000 for “Sangamam,” in 2003 for Kannathil Muthamittal and in 2011 for Thenmerku Paruvakkatru.
