Made on a budget of just 8 crores, the movie clashed with another movie of a similar theme, i.e. the Bollywood crime comedy Andhadhun.

To everyone’s surprise, not only did both movies find their loyal audience, but also became cult classics due to their unique theme, and their no nonsense approach towards storytelling. Even today, Ratsasan is considered as one of the greatest crime thrillers produced in the history of Indian cinema.

Ratsasan earned 20 crores at the domestic box office, making it a bonafide commercial success.
