There is the issue of entertainment tax that is levied on the Tamil movies. Now, discussions are being held by the producer council with the government. In a development, there was the third round of discussions which were held. After the discussion, the government guaranteed that the entertainment tax would be reduced by 2 percent. The cine fraternity accepted that. The tax levied upon movies is such that there would be 28 percent entertainment tax and eight percent of entertainment tax levied on the movies.
