It is reported that Mersal has collected Rs. 5.49 crores at the end of four days and the fourth-day box office collection in Chennai is Rs. 1.32 crores. Mersal has been facing a lot of problems before and after the release. Before the release, it faced the title issue. After solving the title issue, the film crew had to face the queries by Animal Welfare Development Board of India. As the AWBI didn’t get a satisfactory reply from Mersal team, they didn’t give them the NOC and the resultant is the Censor Board didn’t permit them to screen the film. Finally, the film cleared all the problems and hit the screens. After the release, it has been facing the GST and Digital India dialogues.
