After meeting the GUV at Raj Bhavan, the DMK leader started a fasting protest at Marina in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue.  Soon, he and his cadres were arrested. Later, they were released. However, there are cases filed against them under 2 sections including the gathering at Marina without getting prior permission. The case has been filed against 63 MLAs and 3 MPs and 2000 DMK  party cadres.
