Legal Battle Between ‘Manjummel Boys’ And Ilaiyaraaja ON!

‘Manjummel Boys’ is once again in the news, but for entirely different reasons!

Ilaiyaraaja has taken the makers of the film to the court. But why? According to the latest reports, Ilaiyaraaja is not impressed by the way the producers have used one of his songs from ‘Gunaa’ without his prior permission. He has accused the producers of copyright infringement.

This is not the only case where Ilaiyaraaja is upset about the ‘unfair use’ of his songs. [also one of the leads of the movie], the audio rights were already purchased from the music label which held them. As such, Ilaiyaraaja’s accusations are completely ridiculous and unfair.

In case you are unaware, the core plot of ‘Manjummel Boys’ revolves around a batch of youngsters who decide to explore the Devil’s Kitchen, also known as Gunaa Caves, thanks to the way this location was popularized in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Gunaa’. A few of the songs from that movie were also used in ‘Manjummel Boys’, and it was liked by one and all. Even Kamal Haasan was extremely impressed by the smart use of his own creations, and invited the entire team to his office to congratulate them.
