, who was mistaken for a terrorist and put in jail by the Pakistan government. He was in the prison for decades and was assaulted by the jail inmates. The biopic on Sarabjit is directed by
Omung Kumar
, the helmer of “
Mary Kom
.”

played the titular role and

played Dalbir Kaur, the sister of Sarabjit, who fought for his release from jail. The film released on 20th May and had been receiving appreciations, nationwide. Now, the UP government has announced a tax exemption for the film and this is the 8th film that gets the exemption in the past five months. Before Sarbjit, it was “Neerja,” which got the tax free benefit in UP. Neerja is also a biopic and it is about the brave air hostess,
Neerja Bhanot
, who saved the life of hundreds of people during a flight hijack. Along with Sarbjit, “
Nil Battey Sannata
” starred by
Swara Bhaskar
also gets the tax exemption.
