While shooting the climax, Matt has to cry and to make him cry, Ridley played the voices of his friends. Finally, Matt shed tears, which appeared quite naturally on the scene. Damon was wearing a helmet, and he was instructed, through a wired signal in the helmet. So, Scott played the tape and Damon heard his friends’ voices and tears started to flow naturally from his eyes. Ridley Scott is a tricky director, is it not!
