Listen to "Cinematographer Of 'Everest' Recalls His Tough Situation"
For the movie, “Everest”, the shooting was held at 29,029 feet on Mount Everest, which is said to be the Earth’s highest mountain range. This mountain attracts the world’s passionate mountain climbers. “It was very difficult to shoot at Everest, and it is a physically challenging one, and at the top there is such a weather condition, which you couldn’t tolerate”, says the cinematographer Salvatore Totino, on his shot at the Everest.
“First, we started in Kathmandu and then at Lukla, which has one of the 10 most deadly airports, from where the climbers begin their trekking at the base camp,” said Totino. “We flew in the helicopter up to 1,500 feet, where we could see the memorials for the climbers, who have perished on the mountain”, added Salvatore.
“Working at higher altitudes is very risky and they gave us a tough challenge. You will not get enough time to adapt to the climate. Dehydration happened very quickly and you will find it hard to breathe”, said the cinematographer.
