1. Black

Black(2005) directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a drama film. It stars Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan giving tribute to Helen Keller's life. It shows the remorseless conditioning of a deaf and blind child who gets frustrated because of the Black world before a teacher (Amitabh Bachchan) comes in her life to raise her as a phoenix from the ashes. He makes her feel the world despite she being physically challenged but later on, ends up suffering from Alzheimer's himself. Black is one of the uplifting movies made in Bollywood with both the lead roles performing astoundingly.

2. Paan Singh Tomar

The movie released in 2012 is based on the biography of Paan Singh Tomar. He was an athlete and a soldier in the Indian Army who pulled off a gold medal at the Indian National Games, but conditions forced him to become a brutal brigand. The movie looks at corruption and government malpractices. It outlines the agonising fact about how officials and bureaucrats are careless for the army soldiers who devote their lives for the country. The performance by Irfan Khan is stupendous.

3. My Name is Khan

A 2010 film directed by Karan Johar, with exceptional acting done by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. It depicts how badly people suffer through racial prejudice, severe homeland security laws, rampant US jurisprudence and how an innocent man (Shah Rukh Khan) tries to prove, "My name is Khan but I'm not a terrorist". The movie is uplifting, inspirational and agonising and makes people think about caste discrimination.

4. A Wednesday!(2008)

It is a thriller film starred by Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher. It's a masterpiece movie with a perfect suspense. The message given is relevant and important to all the countries. It's about how common man is disturbed because of the insecure environment due to terrorism and the incompetence of the governing authorities and sometimes he(the common man) should also cross lines to demand his rights. It's realistic and commendable movie directed by Neeraj Pandey.

5. Black Friday (2007)

It is a crime film based on the true story of the Bombay Blasts, directed by Anurag Kashyap. It shows how trivial fights between two communities can destroy innumerable lives resulting in enormous emotional trauma and property loss. It depicts how these riots incite people which lead to retaliation.

6. Anand (1971)

"Babu Moshay, Zindagu badi honi chahiye, lambi nai.", a drama film whose director and co-writer is Hrishikesh Mukherjee. It stars magnificent Rajesh Khanna who plays the peppy role of Anand, as merry as a Sandboy, who extends a helping arm to everyone but himself is suffering from intestinal cancer. When Anand meets the blunt yet honest, Dr Bhaskar (‘Amitabh Bachchan) a bond of friendship is established. He tells Bhaskar that he would be glad if everyone remembered him as a cheerful person rather than a cancer patient.

7. Kaagaz Ke Phool

Kaagaz Ke Phool, a 1569 film, starring a versatile actor, Guru Datt, who was the director and the producer as well. The title completely justifies the movie, just as a flower's fragrance is transitory, some people abruptly face downfall and are shredded into pieces. The movie was a masterstroke when it comes to the crux, acting and music such as "Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Situm". It demonstrates the cinema world, extramarital affairs, media, alcohol addicted who has too far gone for redemption thus dies in the director's chair, consigned to oblivion.

8. Do Bigha Zamin

Do Bigha Zamin(1953), directed by Bimal Roy(Bengali director) and lead roles being played by Balraj Sahni and Nirupa Roy. The movie depicts miscellaneous obstacles, due to illiteracy and lack of awareness, zamindari system, red tape and corruption and what majority of India below poverty line faces to pinch pennies. As he couldn’t earn his livelihood just by being a farmer, he went to the city and became a rickshaw puller to be able to pay his debts and save his land, his son ended up being a pick more pocket and his wife got trapped in cruelty. An outstanding movie directed by Bimal Roy starring Ashok Kumar, Dharmendra and Nutan who plays a role of selfless, sacrificing and strong protagonist in pre-independent India. The title tells everything about the movie that how an ordinary woman was trapped in such circumstances that led her to commit crime and serve life imprisonment for murder and how she gets in a dilemma to make a choice between a caring prison doctor(Dharmendra) and a man Bikash (Ashok Kumar) from her past hounding her present.
