Ogirala Ramachandra Rao was a male Indian artist who worked predominantly in the Telugu Film industry. He was born on 10th Septemeber1905, at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He had one son and one daughter, and both followed his principles and transformed into singers-musicians. He gained fame as an actor, music director, and musician who played innumerable musical instruments. He started his career as an actor in Sri Venkateswara Mahatyam (1939), played the role of Lord Shiva, and later turned into a Music composer. He was also a playback singer for Y.V.Rao and sang with Kanchanamala in the film. He composed music for early talkies in Telugu cinema and was fully active in the field in the 1940s and 1950s.
In 1939 he marked his debut as a playback singer and music composer through the movie Malli Pelli, and later, he concentrated on composing music only. As a music composer, some of his notable works include - Vishwamohini, Parvati Kalyanam, Swargaseema, Yogi Vemana, Gunasundari Katha, Raksharekha, Paramanandayya Shishyula Katha, Peddamanushulu, and Ramadasu. He works with people like Addepalli Rama Rao, Chittor V Nagaiah, Ghantasala Venkateshwara Rao, and P. Leela. He passed away in 1957 at fifty-one, and his career peaked during his glorious years in Telugu cinema. His last work, Ramadasu, was posthumously released in 1964. As a playback singer, he was, remembered for the movie Bejawada Rajaratnam. Ogirala Ramachandra Rao is known for Shri Gauri Mahatyam[1956], Pedda Manushulu (1954), and Maya Rambha(1950).
