Bhupathi Raja is a Tamil writer, born in Madurai into a traditional household. He has three brothers and a sister. He is married to Senthil Kumari and has two daughters; Mahalakshmi Allicemahima and Sanjana. Bhupathi Raja’s father, Mr Balamurugan was in the cine industry and had written many successful stories such as Engal Thanga Raja, Pattikada pattanama, Vasantha maligai, Rajapart rangadurai, Raman yethanai Ramanadi, Anbu karangal, Thunaivan, Maanavan, and Sankar Salim saiman. Bhupathi acted in a few of his father's films like Rajapart Rengadurai, Engal Thanga Raja, Manikka thotil and Thangapathakkam as a child. He worked with the popular Shivaji Ganesan as a child artist at eight. His first movie- ‘Raja Raja Thaan’, produced by the famed Cinematographer Mr Nivaz, featured Ramarajan and Gowthami.
He worked under E.Ramdas' direction once again in his second film, Nenjamundu Nermaiundu, featuring Ramarajan and Rubini. The Tamil writer entered the Tollywood industry with the blockbuster hit Mutha Mesthri starring Chiranjeevi, Roja and Meena. Master, Choodalani Undi, Hitler, Annayaa, Iddaru Mitralu, Daddy and Andharivadu are his other hits with Chiranjeevi. Bhupathi also worked with Jagapathi Babu and Aamni in the hit movie Subhalagnam.
