Plot
The film revolves around Vikram (Vicky) who is an aggressive person, and resorts to violence to solve problems. On the other hand, his brother Rajaram is quite the opposite who believes in peacefully resolve every situation and stick to the law of the nation. A conflict with his brother in childhood makes Vicky leave his home. Soon after leaving home, he makes a name for himself as a “Bhai (Rowdy)” in Kolkata. There, he falls in love with Bhairavi, a vlogger, but her father will agree to their marriage only after meeting Vicky’s family. This made Vicky return to his brother and family after fourteen years while hiding that he is a hooligan. There, Vicky finds out that his brother is under grave threat from GK, a renowned food manufacturer. What's the cause of this rift, and how does Vicky resolve this problem? That forms the crux of the story.
Star Performances
Gopichand played his role with ease because, just like his other movies, this character is also regular and mundane. Despite his age, he manages to excel in action sequences. Jagapathi Babu, while playing the role of the righteous elder brother, did a decent job. But at times, he overacted while trying to add depth to his ordinary and regular character. Gopichand and Jagapathi Babu were given stereotypical roles with little or no character development. The female characters, played by Khushbu and Dimple Hayathi, were there in the film just for the sake of their presence, without any significant contribution to the story. Dimple Hayathi’s role was limited to flaunting her glamour in songs without an actual contribution in the proceeding of the story. Khushbu showed the right kind of expressions and emotions with whatever amount of time she was given. Nassar, a talented actor, proved to be a missed opportunity. Tarun Arora's portrayal of a villain lacked the gravitas for such a character. Vennela Kishore, Ali, Sathya, and Seenu tried to add humor with their stale comedy but ended up irritating the viewers. The rest of the cast tried their best to support the narrative.
Analysis
‘Ram Banam’ means ‘the bow of lord Ram,’ but the film hardly justifies this title. Bhupathi Raja’s story is outdated and lacks something fresh. Once the narrative is set, the story is predictable and hardly surprises the audience. The characters and their characterizations are regular and lack depth. Unfortunately, the director stuck to directing the film only. Characters, other than the leading duo are of are treated like the background artists and they hardly contributes to the film’s narrative. The storyline, built around the critical issue of food adulteration, unfortunately, takes a backseat to the film's action-centric focus. Catchy dialogues, action sequences and overpowered protagonist are the sole ingredients of this everyday story. The convenient plot points overshadow the potential for a more nuanced exploration of the central theme. Vetri Palanisamy’s cinematography is nothing new, but it works for the film. The production quality tried to make the movie looks gigantic and rich and achieves it to some extent. Mickey J. Meyer's music is not appealing and doesn’t suit the movie. Even, his background score hardly does anything to enhance audience’s experience. The songs disrupt the flow of the story. Dialogues in the film are outdated, routine, and pretty ordinary. Prawin Pudi’s editing felt lethargic as there are a few scenes that felt out-of-order and can be deducted without leaving any gaps in the narrative. The director fails to use the resources to their best and produces a film that is nothing but a mediocre product that derailed from its central point and fails to leave a mark.

Verdict
"Rama Banam" is an action film that addresses social issues more thoughtfully. However, it ate its tail by prioritizing conventional action over a more meaningful exploration of its social message, thus leaving the audience with an action film without much of a story. It doesn’t have a new or different plot; hence, the story plays a crucial part in its success. However, it fails to make the story engaging enough to attract or hold the viewers. Gopichand again chooses a film where he has to play a rowdy character, which is a cakewalk for him. Overall, it is a routine commercial flick with nothing fresh to offer. You can give the film a watch if you are okay with a mediocre plot amalgamated with some comedy and action.
