Actor Ravi Varma

Ravi Varma is an Indian actor who is well known for playing supporting roles in Tamil films. He was born in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh and raised in Hyderabad since he was two years old. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology in Hyderabad. He went to New York to pursue his masters, where he started working at the Indian news web portal company, Rediff, after completing his studies. Tired of his nine-to -five profession, he set out to find an alternative career in the field of acting, an art which had always fascinated him. He joined the New York Film Academy for a three-month course in acting. Soon afterward, he auditioned for and bagged the role of Sayeed in Deva Katta’s rom-com “Vennela” (2005), starring Parvathi Menon opposite Raja. The film was majorly shot in the United States and barely ten percent in India. It was lauded by the south Indian students in the USA and had a successful run at the box office. His next movie “Raakhi,” starring Jr. NTR, also thrived in the theatres, running for a hundred days in some of them. It gave a good start to Ravi’s career, becoming the cornerstone of his next thirty movies, including “Sainikudu” (2006), “Classmates” (2007), “Jalsa” (2008), “Inkosaari” (2010), “Ala Ela” (2014), “Terror” (2016), “PSV Garuda Vega” (2017), and “Taxiwaala” (2018). In 2017, Ravi made his debut in Bollywood with Sankalp Reddy’s naval war biography “The Ghazi Attack,” based on the arcane sinking of submarine PNS Ghazi in 1971 during the Indo-Pakistan War. Ravi portrayed the major supporting character of Kamalakar Shinde. The movie turned out to be a huge hit. His latest project, “Rajdoot” was released on 3rd July 2019 but failed to impress the viewers. He currently resides in Hyderabad and is shooting for his upcoming film “Nuvvu Thopu Raa,” directed by Sudhakar Komakula.
