Arun Rama Varma

Arun Rama Varma is an Indian sound effects editor who works primarily in the Tamil film industry. Arun was born in Trippunithura and completed his schooling from Chinmaya Vidyalaya from his hometown itself. He then studied in Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and further did the Bachelor of Science in Electronics from the College of Applied Sciences in Puthuppally. He also did different courses from Thames Valley University and MG University. Later he did masters in sound engineering. After completing his studies, Arun started to work as a freelance sound engineer for location sound recording, sound effects editing, and music recording in the Indian film Industry from December 2000 to October 2005. He further worked as a lecturer in sound engineering for a year until June 2006 in ICOM Malaysia. After quitting this, he went to London, United Kingdom and did the job of a sound designer/engineer for around four years. He returned to Mumbai, Maharashtra in August 2009 and started working as a sound editor under canneries post sound for three years. Leaving this job in 2012, he is presently working under sound audio as freelance sound designer/ editor in Trippunithura. Arun Rama started working in movies from 2005 itself. His first picture as a sound assistant was the blue umbrella which released in 2006. Prior to it, he worked as a dialogue writer in two films; Krithyam and Police where Krithyam was his debut movie. His another film with the work of a sound assistant was a little box of sweets. In 2007, a short film between brothers was released where he proved his skill of a sound mixer. Another short video titled Christie came in 2008 in which he had worked as a sound designer. He did the same job in Babbage too. Arun edited the dialogues of the crimson mask of 2009, Walkaway of 2010, Nanban of 2012. He has worked in the production of several films as a sound mixer, sound editor, re-recording mixer, sound effects editor, sound designer and assistant sound engineer. Some of them are Nocturne, The Last Supper, Blue, Morrison's Birthday Party, Black Book, Enthiran, Viola, Carmen’s Kiss, Delhi Belly, Intel MTV Sound Tripping, English Vinglish, Not Today, Hotel California, and others. His father's voice is his latest release.
