Shibu Thameens is an Indian film producer and distributor, working in the South India. With his family in the business of goods distribution, Shibu studied B.Tech in the mechanical branch at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur. He possesses an MBA degree in Materials Management too. After his education, he did not hesitate to join his family business, Thameens Group. The institution started in the early 90s with handling minor exhibitions’ operations. Gradually, the group entered the cinema industry by distributing and producing movies. Apart from these fields, this establishment is responsible for the goods’ distribution of Nestle (a major FMCG famous for KitKat and Maggi) in Kerala.

At the beginning of 2010, the board of members appointed Shibu as the sole-proprietor of Thameens. Critics termed it as a collection of simple jokes but praised the depiction of the bonding shared by the actors. Eventually, ABCD performed well commercially in Kerala and the Middle East. Analysts estimated Puli’s budget to be in the region of 100 crore rupees because of the usage of visual special effects in the adventure motion picture. Puli released on 1st October 2015 to a good opening start.

But the reviewers and fans did not like Puli, stating its awful screenplay and acting. People also criticized the slow pacing, which led to a reduced financial collection. Due to Puli’s failure, the producers agreed to compensate the fellow distributors after the protests. Iru Mugan was shot primarily in Malaysia, Bangkok, Ladakh, and Chennai.

In an interview, Shibu expressed his happiness over his cordial relationship with the Tamil superstar and he is willing to work with Vikram shortly. Iru Mugan became a commercial “blockbuster,” and earned 100 crore rupees. Shibu’s company handled its distribution in Kerala. The group has distributed many films with Krrish 3, R… Raajkumar, Thalaivaa, and Thupakki as notable examples. He owns Thameens Maxx, a state-of-the-art theater in Kaliyikkavila. Shibu has confirmed the plans for the sequel to 2003 hit Sammy and announced that Sammy: 2 would release in 2018.

Born on 18 December, Hari Viswanath, originally named as Hariharan Viswanathan, was raised in Chennai, India. He graduated as a civil engineer and later pursued his dream of being a film director. As a movie director, screenwriter, and producer, Viswanath so far produced three films which won national and international acclaim. He claims the reason beneath his endearing passion for film arises from his father’s presence on stage. With that, he slowly built a path and drove himself into the field of cinema.  His debut project, “Idukkan” is a Tamil short film based on real life incidents. It depicts an old man struggling to earn money to tend his wife, who is sick and bed-ridden. A beggar enters the old man’s life and with his tactics in tackling life, changes the lives of the old couple. The film stars Lakshmanan as the old man who sells coconuts and Ramanan as the beggar. Ramanan is an assistant director and actor, whose recent release was The Rat: A Sexy tale in 2011.  The movie, “Idukkan” won the Best Short Film Award in Norway Tamil Film Festival 2013. Since the success of his debut film, Viswanath worked diligently in directing and writing stories for his films. His next project which is another short film, Pesum Virus, was released on 9 August 2013. Another story based on the lives of ordinary people, Pesun Virus, starred an auto driver who goes about his life without a worry in mind. The life of the ebullient driver takes a sharp turn the other way around with a single phone call. The movie is about the mystery behind the call, which so drastically changes the man’s attitude. The film stars Sricharan as the auto driver. Sricharan is an actor famous for his movies Billa 2 and Thani Oruvan. Hari Viswanath’s latest project is the movie known as “Radiopetti,” which is his debut as a feature film. The movie was acknowledged in both national and international film competitions such as Busan International Film Festival 2015 and Indian Panorama for 46th International Film Festival of India at Panaji, Goa. The movie is about a 70-year-old man whose entire world revolves around the radio, which was a gift from his dad during his childhood. Though the man is pretty old, his entire day starts with turning on the radio. The movie revolves around the incidents the old man faces when one day he loses the radio so precious to him. Being emotionally attached to the object, he undergoes psychological disturbances. The movie starred Lakshmanan, the actor from Idukkan, Shobana Mohan, and TVV Ramanujam. The music was composed by Richard Ford, a British music composer, and Saravan Natrajan is the cinematographer.  Viswanath dedicated the movie to his grandfather, who is 89 years old and wished to celebrate their relation. The movie won the KNN Audience Award in the competition at the Busan International Film Festival 2015, and it is the first Tamil movie to do so. Encouraged by the positive criticism, Viswanath is looking forward to a theatrical release in 2016.

P.T. Selvakumar serves the Tamil film industry as a director, producer, and a press relation officer.Selvakumar had no ambition of being a film director specifically. Instead, he used to be a journalist before getting in touch with the film directors. In his career in journalism, he got in touch with S. A Chandrasekhar, a famous film director from the Tamil industry. Chandrasekhar entrusted him as the PRO (press relation officer) of his son Vijay Chandrasekhar, an actor in the Tamil industry. In 2003, Selvakumar got into the production work and produced a Tamil film titled Banda Paramasivam, directed by T.P Gajendran. A remake of this movie was later made in Bollywood, which was titled Housefull 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Asin Thottumkal, and several other stars. The film got unveiled in 2012. Next, Selvakumar moved to try out film direction and to start with he hired four Tamil actors which included, Nakul, Shiva, Santhanam, and Premji Amaren; he also appointed Priyamani, but till then the film did not gain any official announcement. Later the film was officially announced with entirely a new star cast which had Vinay Rai, Aravind Akash, Sathyan as actors in addition to Premji, and Raai Laxmi as the female lead, in the list. Finally after the announcement, the shooting commenced from October 2012. The script was based on the 2009 film, The Hangover, an American black comedy and the Tamil version was titled, Onbadhule Guru. It got released in March 2013. The film was reviewed poorly by the critics, but  then also the film was on the screens of about 200+ cinema houses and made a collection of about 75 lakhs in just five days. Worldwide, the film made a collection of about 1.5 crores. The critics also commented on its story line stating that it had been just a mixing of comic scenes with no proper construction of basic story line. Till date, Onbadhule Guru, had been the only movie directed by P. T. Selvakumar. But he had produced three films, all in the Tamil industry. He had financed T.P Gajendran’s Banda Paramasivam; he also produced Chimbu Deven’s Puli, which had a star cast composed of Vijay, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan, and Hansika Motwani, in 2015, and this film received optimistic views from its audience. The latest of the lot which he had produced was Ramprakash Rayappa’s Pokkiri Raja, which got released in 2016.
