Sudarsanam R

R. Sudarsanam or Ramakrishna Sudarsanam was an Indian music composer and director. He worked in the Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam music industries over the years. He entered the music industry with the film Thiruneelakandar (1939) and had a small role to play in the sound department. He then worked under the aegis of music composers Sharma Brothers for several years. He also associated with T.A Kalyanam for some compositions. He then composed music for a movie in 1940, titled Sakuntalai. However, he fell ill and couldn’t continue work further and hence didn’t get credits for his work. He then entered the field of dubbing movies with AVM studios for some time.

He then composed music in association with Thuraiyur Rajagopal Sharma for the Tamil film Sri Valli (1945). R. Sundarsanam single-handedly composed music for the Tamil film Naam Iruvar (1947). He also worked with Pragathi Studios, National Pictures, Devar Films, Mekala Pictures, and numerous other notable banners of that time. Songs composed by him include Kalppakappoonchola (1968), Unarookanna Nee (1967), Poo Pole (1968), Kanna Kaarmukil Varnna (1979), Baalyakaalasakhi (1967), Vellathaamara Mottu (1968) and many more. In 1953 he gave music for the Hindi movie Ladki, in 1962 for the Hindi film Mall Road, and for a Sinhalese movie in 1956 titled Dosthara. Other films in which he composed music include Naaga Nandhini, Penchina Prema, Gunasagari, Parasakthi, Rama Rajyam, Harishchandra, En Manaivi, Miss Leelavathi, Poomalai, Thalli Prema, Hridhayathinte Nirangal, Sri Krishna Rukmini Satyabhama, Anbu Karangal, Matwala and many more. He died in 1991 in Chennai.
