Sabby Jey

Born on 17 November, Sabby Jey is a model, a semifinalist in Miss Universe New Zealand contest and an actress from New Zealand who has come to India for Kollywood movies. Currently, she lives in Auckland, New Zealand. Her debut film is Kaadhal Nagaram, which is in the filming process right now. At first, her parents opposed her decision of being an actress as they thought of it as an unstable profession. But despite of all the opposition, she pursued her dream and convinced her parents.

Being a resident of New Zealand and Australia, the actress enjoyed watching Tamil films. Sabby is very much influenced by Vijay’s work and idolizes him. Miss Jey is a Sri Lankan Tamilian. Her parents moved from Sri Lanka to New Zealand, where she was born. She did her schooling from America and Australia. The actress is a graduate in Finance, which took her 6 years to complete. As a child, she was always bullied for her skin tone. Being a calculus lover, she started modeling when a woman in Sydney asked her to pose for her website because the lady really liked Sabby’s skin tone. There were many gossips in her University too after she decided to be a model. But Sabby took everything positively and work harder as she could. At beginning, it was tough for her to pursue her dream. Her progress took time and eventually, she succeeded in her propaganda.

During her visit to India, she went to the shooting spot of Vijay Sethupathi’s Rekka. The cameraman of Rekka recommended Sabby for Kaadhal Nagaram. Before this recommendation, many Tamil directors had approach her due to her huge media influence. In this feature film, she is portraying the character of an Australian girl who visits India to marry a Tamilian guy. For this flick, she took acting classes from various coaches to learn Tamil mannerisms and to improve her pronunciation skills. Now she is also trained in classical dance and Kuthu. Sabby has acted in commercials made by veteran ad guru JD-Jery.

She began modeling while pursuing her graduation. In New Zealand and Australia, she has worked for clothing, bridal and ethnic wear brands. She is also a dancer of the troupe “Taur Punjaban”. The actress is also featured in a music video of The Leers- “I can’t hope”. Currently, she is working with Joyce Models & Talent. She has also done many brand ambassador work for international brands as well as for the New Zealand and Australian sports teams.
