AN Balakrishnan

ANBalakrishnan is an Indian Writer, who works in the South Indian Film Industry as a Dialogue Writer and Screen Writer in the pen name of Subha. The pen name he got from his writing partner Suresh. Both work together to write stories from college. Both had an interest in Tamil Literature and participated in a short story writing competition in Tamil magazine, Kalki. From here, their writing journey has started. In 1975, Balakrishnan and Suresh completed B. Sc. Physics at Presidency College, Chennai.

After the completion of the degree, Balakrishnan got a Bank job in Perundurai, where Suresh got a job in Chennai. But their love for writing remained, which made them quit their jobs to become full-time writers since 1979. They wrote more than 400 short stories and novels. One of the detective novels, EthirKatru, was adjusted into a Malayalam film, Artham in 1989. It stars Mammooty in the lead role. In 1998, they made a film debut in Prabu Deva starerNaamIruvarNamakkuIruvar by writing dialogues. Director KV Anand chose their story PudaithaalumVaruven and made a directorial debut in the film, Kana Kanden.

Balakrishnan and Suresh wrote the dialogues. They worked with KV Anand in other films like Ayan, Ko, Maatran, Anegan, and Kavan. Both worked as a Dialogue writer in Shankar directorial film, I. The writer duo owns a publishing company, ThangaThaamarai Publications, and they are continuing their writing work.
