Santhosh Echikkanam is a contemporary writer who writes novels, poems and short stories associated with Malayalam literature. He was born in Echikkanam of Kasaragod district. The journey of Santhosh as a writer began from Bedaduka.
Santhosh was born in a rural area so he had to struggle a lot to create an identity of his own. Santhosh got recognition as a story writer after writing the popular story Komala in 2008. Santhosh is a screenwriter and writer by the profession and has given many hits in the film industry. Many works of Santhosh had been adopted by Malayalam Silver Screen. Santhosh had co-scripted a Malayalam film titled Nidra in 2012. Many of his works have achieved huge success.
Santhosh writes short stories based on common people. His short stories made him popular. Santhosh won the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award in 2012 for his short story named Komala. A movie was made by Aashiq Babu based on Santhosh’s story named
. The name of the movie did not change, and the movie received a positive response from the audience as well as the critics.

Santhosh also worked in the TV show named Akashadoothu. He worked in the 2nd part of the TV series. Santhosh used to work as a teacher in a Higher Secondary School in Kasaragod, but he resigned the job as soon as he got to know that the job would get permanent. So, he quit the job because he didn’t like the same daily routine of his life.
It felt quite bogus to him. Santhosh also did a journalism course at Press Academy in Ernakulam. But, Santhosh loved writing. He thought that writing was the only sensible thing for him to do so he took up writing as his career. Santhosh’s best work includes Komala and Ottavarthii. Other works of Santhosh includes Kathapathrangalum Pankeduthavarum, Oru Chithrathakathayile Nayattukar, Mangalyam Thanthu Naan Dena, Malabar Whistling Thresh. He also wrote a poem named “Nanni.” His short stories include Idukki Gold, Naranayum Paravayayum and 52 * 32. Santhosh is a talented writer, and his stories are down to earth.
