Karthika Mathew has worked mainly in Malayalam films. But she also tested waters in Tamil film industry. Born in Kerala, Karthika is renowned for her portrayal in Dindigul Sarathy and Nam Naadu. She also had a stint with commercials.

Having her schooling in Kochi, Karthika has acted in over 35 films. The 2004 flick Vellinakshatram was one of her important films in her initial stages of her career. The Malayalam flick Lion was remade in Tamil as Nam Naadu and Karthika enacted the role done by in Malayalam. She shared screen space with Sarathkumar in this film. Another Malayalam flick Vadakkunokiyentram was remade into Tamil and Karthika shared screen space with Karunas in this film. She also worked in another Tamil flick named Paalaivanachcholai. Naalai Namadhe, Aarumaname, Ayvar Pattalam are her other Tamil flicks.

Karthika tied the nuptial knot to Merin Mathew, during the year 2009. Her husband is a doctor. After marriage, she went to USA.
