Cherunniyoor Jayaprasad is an eminently renowned thespian and an equally prestigious playwright or theatre director. He was the Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy Amateur Drama Awardee for his indigenous production and creativity. While exploring folk theatre and theatre areas of the epic chronicles, he wrote almost eight plays and directed twelve.
Some of his plays are Typhoon, Yagagni, Thrayam, Thrasam, Spandanam, Algebra, etc. He received the Kerala State Award, the All India Radio Drama Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy Guru Pooja Award, and Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy Samagra Sambhavana Puraskaram Award.
