Karun Raj Kalathil

Kanthil graduated in commerce at Holy Angels College in 1998. He worked as an animator and pre-production artist with Sanra Software Public Ltd. for about two years. During his tenure with the organization, he worked on character designs, storyboards, and animation. He also worked on film and home videos.

Later, he joined DQ Entertainment as a storyboard artist, where he worked on shows and movies that were telecast on Disney, CartoonNetwork, POGO, and Nickelodeon.

About four years later, the animator joined Maya Digital Solutions (P) Ltd. as a pre-production artist. His role entailed designing characters and props, BG painting, storyboarding, and overseeing animation.

He worked as a concept and storyboard artist with Prime Focus World for a Chinese movie, Ghost Blows Out The Night The Night is a web series that was released in 202 >> Read More... . During his stint with Maya Digital Studios, which he re-joined, he acted as a storyboard lead. It was then that he worked on the animated television series ‘Eena, Meena, Deeka’.

In 2017, Kalathil worked on the flash-animated television series ‘Tik Tak Tail’, produced under the banner of Cosmos Maya. The series premiered on Pogo in 2017 and was broadcast on Cartoon Network in 2019.

Tik Tak Tail is a comedy show about a rabbit, a tiger, and the tiger’s tail. Both the tiger and its tail conspire to catch the rabbit and its carrots but are outwitted by the latter every time. Kalathil worked as a storyboard supervisor for the episode titled ‘Robot Nanny’ of the series.

In January 2021, Kanthil joined Cosmos-Maya, where he works as the episodic director. The animator has over fifteen years of experience in the field of animation and film design He has donned different hats involving concept and visual development, storyboard, character artist animation, and episodic direction.

He is also skilled in computer animation, traditional animation, and flash animation. He has expertise in painting, compositing, photography, Maya, Flash, and pre-production. The animator is proficient in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and English.

Kanthil also feels strongly for issues like animal welfare, civil rights, disaster, and humanitarian relief, poverty eradication, environment, human rights, et al. He is inclined towards arts and culture, science and technology, politics, and social services.
