Nuggehalli Pankaja is an Indian writer and poet. She is an expert in literature, writing in Kannada and English, and is one of the most influential writers of the Kannada language. Nuggehalli Pankaja was born on June 2, 1929, in Bangalore, Karnataka. She has written many novels, short stories, and plays. She has received Kannada Sahitya Parishad Award, Anupama Award of Karnataka Writers Association for the novel 'Ballimoggu', International Award for English Poetry, 'Suvarna Karnataka Sri Award', Lipiprach Jan Award, and the International Academy's "World Poetry Prize'' for best English poetry. Her novel Barale Inn Yamune? was made into a Kannada movie, Sipayi Ramu, in 1972. Other novels that were made into films include Gagana and Malayamaruta.
