K Y Narayanswamy, also known as Kuppur Yalappa Narayanswamy, is a famous Kannada poet born on 5th June 1965 in the Kolar district of Karnataka. He did his schooling at Masthi and obtained his BA, MA, and M.Phil degrees from Bangalore. He is also a scholar, playwriter, and critic. He is the author of many plays, including Kalavu, Vinura Vema, Huliseere, Chakraratna, Anabhinga Shakuntala and many more. He has also worked for films in the field of documenting, scriptwriting, lyrics, and screenplay, mainly for Kalavu, Lost Bus, Bhgvathi kaadu, and Suryakaanti.
He is also the founder of Besagarahalli Ramanna Trust, which provides scholarships and financial help for needy students. KYN started a midday meal scheme for his students and initiated a program known as Kuvempu Odu, which identifies different colleges worldwide, and introduces its students to philosophy and writing subjects.
