Her mother Vinaya Prasad has primarily featured in Kannada and Malayalam films, television soaps as well as a few Tamil and Telugu movies.

She is a senior actress who has worked with big stars like Chiranjeevi Rajinikanth, Ambareesh, Venkatesh and many others. Her father, V.R.K Prasad, who passed away in 1995, was an award-winning director and editor of Kannada films. Post his death her mother married Jyotiprakash in the year 2002, who already has a son named Jai Atre.

Jai Atre is a well-known film director and screenwriter based in Mumbai. Prathama along with mother Vinaya and father Jyotiprakash moved to Bangalore, Karnataka The phrase ‘like mother like daughter’ seems fit for Prathama Prasad and her mother Vinaya Prasad since she is recognised to be as talented as her mother when it comes to performing arts. Prathama has an inclination towards acting and excellence in the same by her genes. She was referred to as the ‘star kid’.

She is a well trained and established kathak dancer. She has been practicing the dance form for the past thirteen years and is an internationally acclaimed Kathak dancer. She says that she is inspired by Madhuri Dixit Nene who is also a well-known Bollywood actor and dancer. She has been trained in Lucknow in the National Institute of Kathak and Choreography.

She started her career with a dance reality show on television for Suvarna. She was also given the opportunity to host a television reality show called ‘SYE to Dance’ She made her debut in the Kannada film industry in the year 2017 with the film ‘Lakshmi Narayanara Prapanchane Bere’, alongside her stepfather Jyoti Prakash for whom this movie is his debut as a director.
