Actress Abhilasha

Veteran Kannada actress Abhilasha has been active in the industry since the 1980s. She entered Kollywood 1987 as a teen actress for the Malayalam movie Jungle Boy, where she played the character Geetha. However, her road towards stardom was not easy. With no backing, connections, or knowledge, the sixteen-year-old went to Madras, Chennai, to explore the industry by herself. She started as a model for the tea brands “Surya Tea,” and “Ruby Dust Tea.” Besides this, Abhilasha appeared in various advertisements and later caught the attention of Director P. Chandrakumar, who gave her a role in his movie Jungle Boy. After this, Abhilasha got numerous offers and opportunities in various films.

The Tamil movie Maavadu Premalo Paddadu was her last movie before she took a break from acting to dedicate herself to motherhood. After a decade away from showbiz, Abhilasha made a comeback with the film Puneet; this film also marks the debut of her husband Kadir Raj as a music director and her daughter Sonu as a child artiste. Two decades of experience and over 125 productions later, Abhilasha made her directorial debut in 2009. She believes that an actor should be able to play any role “without any reservation,” she stands by this as she has delivered nothing short of perfect with the characters assigned to her.
