P. Ravi Shankar Kannada Actor

P. Ravi Shankar

Ravi Shankar Pudipeddi a.k.a Sai Ravi is a popular face in the world of the South Indian cinema, or rather a popular voice, as he’s noted for his extensive dubbing work which covers nearly 2600 films. He’s also been an actor and director as well, working for the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries in all  the three fields. Born to the popular dubbing artist P.J.Sharma, Ravi Shankar along with his brother, the popular actor Sai Kumar, have both inherited the appealing and majestic voice that made them dubbing artists as well.  Although Ravi Shankar entered the film industry as an actor in the late 80’s with films like Madhuranagarilo (in which he plays one of the four young heroes), he did not really succeed as an actor as much as he did as a dubbing artist. He’s dubbed for some really big stars like Prakash Raj, Raghuvaran, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ashutosh Rana, Nassar, Sonu Sood and Mukesh Rishi in all of his career. He’s earned his name as ‘Bommali Ravishankar’ for his dubbing in Arundhati (a highly successful super-natural film by Kodi Rama Krishna) for Sonu Sood’s character. As a dubbing artist, Ravi Shankar won a whole of seven Nandi awards in his career. Along with that, he’s also won the Filmfare award and the Tamilnadu state film award for his dubbing. Off late, Ravi Shankar is majorly being cast as a villain in South Indian films. Among them, Ramayya Vastavayya in telugu and Huchudugaru in Kannada were the films in which his role as the bad guy was highly acclaimed. Ravi Shankar’s versatility doesn’t end just at that. He also happens to be a dialogue writer who’s penned dialogues for around 250 films in his career and a singer noted for the songs he sang in Raktha Charithra and Bejawada (both, intense gangster films by Ram Gopal Varma). For all his contribution to the world of southern cinema, Ravi Shankar will be cherished for a long time to come for all his unique and wonderful talents. ==
