Hulikunte Murthy, a poet, lecturer, and lyricist, was born on 25 August 1981 in Hulikunte, Doddaballapur Taluk, Bangalore Rural District. His father, Venkatarangaiah, is a drama master, and his mother's name is Honnamma. He is married to Nanda H. Murthy. He is a Kannada teacher at the Government P. U. College in Kanasawadi, Doddaballapura District of Karnataka. He won the 2023 State Government Basavaraja Kattimani Yuva Sahitya Award for his work Neelgya.
He composed the music for the song Belaka Battaleyolage in Kaudi, for which he won the State Award for Best Lyricist 2014 by the Karnataka Government. His other published works include Paranjyoti on Manteswami's legacy, a collection of poems called Neeligana, and a collection of articles, Hubitta Kannu. He is a part of the Bayalu Balaga Organisation and the founder of the newsletter Bayalu. He has been an active volunteer of the Dalit movements in Karnataka. He has been a poet, story, and article writer for many newspapers. He made his work Anna Katha, a text for graduation class.
