K.S.L. Swamy, Full name Kikkeri Shamanna Lakshminarasimha was born on February 21,st 1939 in Kingdom of Mysore, British India. He died on October 20,th 2015 in Bangalore, India. He was a playback singer, actor, director, writer, and producer. He started his career at a very early age as an assistant director of popular directors like M.R. Mittal and G.V. Iyer.
He was very experienced in his work when he started working as an independent director. His debut directional venture was “Thoogudeepa” which was released in the year 1966. Then after the success of his first independent movie, he consecutively directed the movies like “Gandhinagara” released in the year 1968, “Bhagya Jyothi” released in the year 1975 and “Malaya Marutha” released in the year 1986 which were critically acclaimed by the critics and was appreciated by the audience.
Then in the year 1989 came his blockbuster movie which broke all the records, and at 37th National Film Awards The National Film Awards gets presented every year >> Read More... , it also won an award for “the best Children’s Film (National Film Award).” He was quite closely associated with the movie director Puttana Kanagal, so after his death, he completed two of his incomplete ventures named “Masanada Hoovu” released in the year 1984 and his most awaited project named “Saavira Mettilu” which was released in the year 2006. This movie also proved to be his last directional venture.
Because of his unbeatable contribution to south Indian Cinema, he was given the award of “Dr. B. Saroja Devi” which is quite a huge honor given to anyone in the industry. He was married to a former South Indian Film Actress named B. V. Radha. He was also fond of singingand could sing quite well. To fulfill his dream of playback singing, he sang the song for the movie “ Shubhamangala Shubhamangala serial was telecasted on ETV Kannada >> Read More... ” and the name of the song was “Suryangu Chandrangu” which was liked by all. Then he sang the song “Ille Swarga Ille Naraka” for the movie “Naagara Hole.”
He died at the age of 77 and is now survived by his daughter Dhana Lakshmi. He worked in the industry for continuous 49 years. He directed 37 films in total during his career. He was also known “Class and Mass Director” as he used to direct the movies that could connect t both the higher class and the middle class. According to his family, the reason of his death was respiratory disorders and was admitted to a private hospital for about 40 days before his death.
