Balasubramanian Rajasekaran was born in Tanjore, Tamil Nadu. His father worked as a deputy inspector of schools. The nature of his father's job led to many location changes because of his father's transfer. He studied at St. Peter's Higher Secondary School, Thanjavur, from 1989-91. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design from the Government College of Arts and Crafts-Kumbakonam from 1991-96.
He worked as a 2D Assist Animator at Millenium Private Limited, Chennai, from June 1996-97. He worked as a 2D Animator at Millitoon Animations, Chennai (1997-99), where he worked on TV Series like Pablo The Little Red Fox, for which he won the Best Animated TV Series Award BAFTA in January 1998. His other TV Series here include Vampire Pirates & Aliens, Pense Betes, and Celestin.
He was a Senior Animation lead at Jadooworks from September 2001 to December 2004, where he supervised 3D animation for Disney's preschool TV show Higgly Town Heroes. He gained training in art and animation styling from Wildbrain Animation Studios, San Francisco. He also designed and directed the BAF award-winning ad film All Out Mosquito Repellent in January 2004. He worked as an Art and Animation Director at Anirights Infomedia, Bangalore, where he made a short film, The Bad Egg.
This short film won many awards, like the Outstanding Film Award at Digicon 6+2 Tokyo, Japan, in 2006 and the World Gold Medal at New York Festivals in 2007. He also designed and directed the BAF Award-winning ad film Veneta Cuicine Kitchen. He worked as an Art and Animation Director at Big Animation Private Limited, Pune, from September 2007 to October 2011. Here, he worked on the TV Series Little Krishna. He designed its key characters and directed the entire 3D animation filmmaking process.
This animation won the ATF Award, 2009- The Best Animation, Singapore, ASIFA 2009- Professional Category-National, India, Golden Cursor Animation 2008-Best Indian Original Content, Best Animated TV Series, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Effects, India, FICCI 2008- Best Animated TV Episode, Best Animated TV Series, Outstanding Animation Indian Content, India, FICCI 2007, India, and Anifest 2007- Viewer’s Choice Award, India. He also worked at Qyuki Digital Media, Bangalore- a new media company founded by Shekhar Kapur Shekhar Kapur is a renowned Indian actor, director >> Read More... and A. R. Rahman from 2011-13. He worked as a Principal Artist at Zygna, Bengaluru, from November 2013 to April 2016 and has worked as an Art Director since July 2021.
