Shanthamma was an Indian actress who primarily worked in the Kannada, Hindi, and Tamil film industries. She also worked as a theatre artist in Karnataka, India. Due to the constraints in her personal life, Shanthamma initially could not pursue her interest in acting. Though, on her husband’s encouragement and support, she decided to take the first step towards realizing her dream. She landed her debut in the Kannada film industry in 1956 with the film “Haribhakta”.
Since then she has had a long journey as an actress and has regaled her audience with over 400 films and T.V. serials/soaps. She has worked alongside the legendary actor Rajnikanth and worked in movies like ‘Ranadheera Kanteerava’, ‘Indina Bharatha’, ‘Rupahi Raja’, Bombay Dada, ‘Sanarimale’ and others. She passed away on 19 July 2020 at the age of 95 due to age-related health problems.
