After completing her schooling, she joined Delhi College of Arts and commerce in 2001. Later, Sarvnik Kaur did her MA in Mass Communication in films from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi from 2007 to 2009. During her time in JMU, Sarvnik Kaur has directed several films. The film Beej Daan is about creating awareness on sperm donation, and Labyrinth is a movie about time. Her other film Moonlighting explores the duality of human character. Sarvnik Kaur moved to Mumbai after her graduation.

She aspired to become a writer and worked hard towards achieving it. But things didn’t go well for her, as she had to face difficulties in adjusting herself to the life of Mumbai. She went through a tough time, and so she stayed aloof so that she can concentrate on writing screenplays. For some time, Sarvnik Kaur worked as an assistant director. It bagged the Ram Bahadur Trophy for Best Film at the 11th Film South Asia and Best Documentary at the 10th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala.
