Omkar Sane, born in Pune and raised in the Mumbai district of Goregaon, read, wrote, slept, and eventually began drinking like everyone else. Since everyone wanted to be pleasant, like doctors, lawyers, accountants, and engineers, he found school problematic because his replies ranged from professional NBA players to Mafioso to WWE superstars. He proceeded to Sydenham, Mumbai, without a plan. He observed that everyone was getting ready to be a cog in a machine. The option was clear: either work in a machine and get wealthy or follow one's beliefs and remain in poverty. Sane opted for the second. (His father picked a career that allowed him to retire at 65.) Finally, he enrolled in the J.J. Institute of Applied Art, where he allowed lust to dictate his actions.
The rest, as they say, is history. He entered advertising because he had no idea what he wanted to accomplish with his life, like everyone else. He joined television because the cuisine was terrible. The caterer followed him around, so he gave up that as well. He stayed at home and wrote this book because he missed eating food that had a mother (his first and best so far). Greater Elephant (2012) and bring on the Night are two works by Omkar Sane (2012).
He has written best-selling books, won screenwriting awards, taught at XIC for 12 years and counting, produced films, started his own business, and created brand narratives. Over the years, he has worked with several notable companies, including Flipkart, Nature's Basket, Yatra, Cinnamon Sri Lanka, Wai Wai, MTV, I Say Organic, Second Nature, Elementary, Barista, ALT Balaji, Parachute, and many more. He collaborates closely as a co-creator with design firms, and he collaborates closely with customers. Welcome to advertising was written by Omkar Sane.
