Qazi Touqueer is a well-known Indian singer of Kashmiri and Hindi languages. He was born on June 2, 1988 at Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. He’s father is a lawyer and subsequently become a Sufi saint while his mother works as a teacher. Qazi’s uncle, Qazi Rafiq is also a Kashmiri singer. He attended Minto Circle School in Raj Bagh. As a child, he used to impersonate Indian film heroes in Srinagar’s Mughal Gardens while his brother is taking shots of him with a video camera. He was also inspired and guided by his father who has a bit knowledge on music.
In 2005, he was one of the final three contestants along with Rex D’Souza and
who took the top spots in the primetime game show,
on Sony Entertainment Television. He was later announced as one of the winners, breaking all the records for obtaining the highest votes in any Indian reality shows. Qazi became the favorite of many Indian viewers and voted for him to win in the show. The President of India even called him as the hero of the Kashmir Valley. Because of his success, many youth were inspired and auditioned for the tryouts of the
in Srinagar. At the same time, he also got many bashers but he continued to fight for the win as he maintains his emotional strength and never lose his heart.
Before entering the Fame Gurukul, Qazi has no formal training as a singer, but he managed to do it well and at the end of year 2005, his first album, Jodi No. 1 together with Ruprekha Banerjee was released. Including in the album are the songs like Yeh Pal, Hero, Karu Kya, Meri Mehbooba, Yeh Pal-Remix, Meri Chudian, Madham Si Chandani and Kehkashan Ha.
After the Fame Gurukul, he rejected television offers since he wants to gain fame and recognition in the big screen.
even offered him a role in the television serial Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai, but he was focused on doing only films. He went missing to the limelight and during those times, he formed his physique and gained weight so after two years, Qazi has set his foot in Bollywood and made her debut film entitled,
, under the production of Nasim Rizvi and directed by Moses Kaushal. He also joined the reality show,
Sarkaar Ki Duniya
on Real TV in 2009.
