RJ Apurva

Apurva Jadhav is a radio jockey working at Radio City 91.1 Pune. She is known as the Filmy Chokri. RJ Apurva was born on February 16 in Kolhapur. She lived in Mumbai for a while and then her family moved to Pune.

Since childhood, Apurva listened to radio, especially AIR and Vividh Bharati. Her mother also likes music, and that's why radio played all day long at Apurva’s house. Since she listened to radio from childhood, she knew a lot about the film industry. No doubt she is the Filmy Chokri of Pune. In the 1990s, privately owned radio channels like Radio City and Mirchi came into limelight. Apurva was very enthused with this new and much more interesting fm listening. Her mother gave her an idea to go and audition for RJing. Initially, Apurva neglected the idea.

She pursued media studies in a college at Pune. She did an unpaid internship with Radio City, Pune. Her internship mostly had technical and minor work along with radio broadcasting. She met Jeetu Mahatre at Radio City while she was interning there. He saw the talent that Apurva possessed and polished her skills for taking an interview. Apurva says that Jeetu Mahatre has been one of the guardian angels who built the base of her professional life. She considers her ex-boss to be the second guardian angel who helped her through the early stages of RJing. Meenal Patil was Apurva’s ex-boss.

She gave her the first ever show to Apurva as an RJ. Meenal was the one who gave Apurva the name that describes her best, ‘Filmy Chokri.’ Initially, the show wasn’t very successful as the critics said Apurva’s voice to be a little cartoonish. Even with all the criticism, her then boss Meenal stood with her and stated that Apurva has a unique voice that has an impact on the minds of the listeners. She says that she is very grateful to both of them. Apurva works at Raio City 91.1 (11 am-2 pm every day) and has a unique connection with her mike. She calls her mike, ‘Mikey’ and greets every day with a warm hello. Talley ho, talley ho is how she likes to sign off her show. RJ Apurva is indeed the filmiest RJ in Pune.
