RJ Shonali

Shonali Rohan Ranade is an Indian Radio Jockey. Shonali, in her childhood, wanted to be a journalist. She completed her master’s degree in Communication and Journalism. As a part-time job, she used to work in the Aakasbani in her hometown Aurangabad. After completing her master’s studies, she started working for a publication. It was then that she started missing her job in the Radio Station. Though she worked as an Announcer in the Aakasbani, she was somewhat addicted to that work and loved that job too. So she again joined the Aakasbani.

After getting married, she got an invitation from the Radio Station in Pune. In this period, she has gained a lot of experience by working for different private radio channels. With full support from her husband and the rest of the family members, she, along with her family, moved to Pune. There she joined the Radio station, and today she is believed to be the best RJ in the city.

Shonali believes that content plays an important role in this job. To be an RJ, you just need not have a sweet and an attractive voice, but you should be able to start a good conversation with your listeners. Whether the Punekars want to have a refreshing morning, or want not to get bored in the evening traffic jams or want to chill in the night, they love to get the company of this sweet RJ over the radio. There is hardly anyone in Pune who doesn’t know Shonali.

On the eve of Women’s Day, she spoke about her experience in the field of Radio with her audience. She shared that she never works for a salary, but she does her job to get happiness. As an RJ she never feels discriminated for being a woman. Both men and women are treated equally in the radio station.
