RJ Michelle Patrao

RJ Michelle Patrao, an Indian radio jockey, is one of the established names in the world of Radio in India. Born as Michelle Rani Patrao on January 22 to Mellwyn Patrao, a businessman, and Mona Patrao, a banker, in Mangalore, Michelle Patrao grew up in Manipal, India. She has two brothers: Daniel Patrao, who works in the hospitality industry, and Dean Patrao, who works in the IT field. Michelle’s passion for becoming an RJ emerged in her younger days. After doing her Bachelor’s, she attended Manipal Academy of Higher Education and pursued Mass communication in Radio specialization. Upon completing her Master’s degree, Michelle Patrao joined Dubai based television channel Zee Arabiya in 2006. She worked as a show producer for the channel and also as a scriptwriter. After a year, she quit the job to run after her dreams of becoming a radio jockey. In 2007, Michelle Patrao started on her Radio jockey journey with 105.4 Radio Spice FM in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Her stay at Radio Spice FM helped her gain ample exposure as an RJ. So, Michelle shifted her base to Bangalore, India, in 2009 and started her RJ career in Radio Indigo FM. She entertained the callers as the host for the morning band program “Morning Show.”

Further, she came up with the afternoon radio show from 1 to 5 pm on weekdays, and the show became immensely popular among the audience. Apart from conversing with the callers, Michelle also conducted exciting game sessions in her program. For the valuable contribution she made in the radio field, Michelle received the RJ of the year award for the South Zone at the Golden Mike Radio Advertising Awards in 2012. In 2014, Big Bang Awards awarded her with Bronze for her duo show called Fusion Mornings with RJ Nathan Woerter and RJ Michelle Patrao. In 2017, Michelle had featured in the Limca Book of Records for being the only radio station to form a band and perform in front of a live audience on World Music day. As a radio jockey, Michelle has always made heads turn with her creative innovations.

She created Valentine’s Day Mashup in 2017, which became a viral hit. Michelle has also released music covers on Women’s day and World dance day along with her team. Besides, she has organized the first dating night in the city and has taken part in the cook-off challenge between the RJ’s and the listeners. Michelle Patrao left Indigo 91.9 FM and moved to Oman. In Oman, she is working as a Radio presenter for the Times of Oman. As a social activist, Michelle Patrao has engaged herself in various campaigns like Unhate, No Honk, cyberbullying, etc. She also regularly voice out her support for women’s safety and pet adaptations. Michelle Patrao is a person who dances like no one is watching. She believes that nothing can make her feel satisfied like the job as a radio jockey.
