Sunil Bohra is the son of Shanti Bohra and Surendra Bohra; he is the 3rd generation of producers in the Mumbai film industry. He was born on August 2, 1972, in Jodhpur (Rajasthan). He has produced many films including Mastram, Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel entitled Tanu Weds Manu: Returns, Gangs of Wasseypur, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, and Shahid. The two-part crime film, Gangs of Wasseypur, earned him a nomination for Best Film at the Filmfare Awards.

Sunil is the grandson of Shri Ram Bohra, the person who founded the Bohra Bros banner and is also a member of the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPAA) for thirteen years. Even though Sunil is born in a family of filmmakers, he still steps out of his comfort zone and faces every obstacle which came in his way and achieved his target to reconstruct the brand, which is now one of the legacies of the Bohra Bros.

He is known as the one the most celebrated independent film producer in India. The reasons behind his unprecedented success were his gut feelings and his views or instinct about the films. Even though the critics takes his ideas as unsafe, he still worked hard and had received several awards for his works including Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2, Chittagong, Shahid, and much more. As of today, the Bohra Bros is already associated with many international associations and has worked on films like Trishna Batalvi, Mere Apne, Seven Sins, Jia Aur Jia, Headley & I, Ganglords of 1985, Malegaon Ka Superman, Sanjay Gandhi, and much more.

The company that was once a production banner had diversified into various firms with business interests in Enterprise Technology Solutions, eCommerce, Acting Institutes, etc. The Melagaon Ka Superman was based on a documentary of a TV channel in Singapore. Sunil was the one who supervised it and earned positive reviews. His television works also earned him applause and good response. He also conceptualized Zoom TV’s first fiction show entitled Crime & Bollywood. Sunil also worked on Mirchi Top 20 for Zoom, Mohalla Mohabat Wala for Sab, etc.

He also conceptualized Zoom TV’s Face the Review, which stars Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, and more. The TV serial ‘ Seeta Aur Geeta’ which was aired on NDTV Imagine was another successful idea of Sunil, which was benefitting the Bohra Bros, as this show is based on the Bollywood’s blockbuster film of the same name, which was released in 1970.
