Ashish Katpal was born in 1972 in Pune in a middle-class family and was raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He completed his schooling at Govt. Sr. High School, Mumbai. He got married to Jyoti Rela Kathpal in December 2015.

He was an executive producer at Wide Frame Pictures and Luv Films. He also worked as a proprietor in KAT Films.
