Waseem Barelvi

Waseem Barelvi is a famous Indian poet of Urdu language. The real name of Waseem is Zahid Hussain, who was born on 8 February 1940 in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his education at Rahilkhand University, Bareilly, with an MA degree in Urdu literature in 1958. Waseem Barelvi started teaching Urdu literature at Bareilly University, from where he had completed his MA. Later, he became an Assitant Professor and Head of the Urdu Department at Bareilly College. Appointed by the government of India, Waseem Barelvi is the Vice Chairman of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL). Waseem Barelvi had won several awards for his excellence in Urdu Poetry. Some of the most popular awards won by Waseem are Firaq Gorakhpuri International Award, the Kalidas Gold Medal by the Haryana government, the Begum Akhtar Kala Dharmi Award, and the Naseem-e-Urdu Award. Aankh Aansu Hai (2000), Mausam Andar Bahar Ke (2007), Mizaj (1990), and Tabassum –e – Gam (1966) are the most famous Urdu poetry books by Waseem Barelvi. He wrote more than 60 Ghazals, 10 Nazms, 70 Sher – o – Shayari, 11 Qitas, and five books.
