Pandit Narendra Sharma was an Indian lyricist, Writer and Poet. He was born on February 28th, 1913 in Jahangirpur village in the district of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. He has completed his graduation and M.A. in English literature from Allahabad University. He was the publisher of Abhiudhay Newspaper in 1934. He was also associated with the All India Radio. He was the founder of Vividh Bharati Seva (All India Radio).
He was also a professor of Hindi and English poetry at Kashi Vidyapeeth. He was arrested by the British government in 1940 for anti-administrative activities and was kept under house arrest for almost 3 years until he was released in 1943. After being released from prison, he began writing songs for films. He composed the title track of Raj Kapoor’s

. He also received his first Filmfare Award nomination for this track. His first Hindi film was ‘Hamari Baat’ in 1943. He wrote several poems like Kahani Kehte Kehte, Paniharin, Swagatham, Rathwan, Mitti aur Phool, Geet Sangrahan etc. He was also a lyricist for various Hindi films including Afsar, Aandhiyan, Jeewan Jyoti, Bhabhi ki Chudiyan, Bhai Bahen, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Prem Rog, Ram ki Ganga, Jalwa etc. He also wrote songs for the 1988 series Mahabharat, which was his last work. He took his last breath On 12 February 1989.
