Khursheed Rizvi is a famous Hindi poet with a mastery of four other languages other than Hindi; they are Arabic, Persian, Urdu and English. He was born on eighth December 1940 in Amroha, Muradabad. He studied at Islamia High School and graduated from Government College Montgomery in 1959. For higher studies he went to University Oriental College, Lahore and earned a degree of M.A. in Arabic in 1961. Then he did his Ph.D. in Arabic from the same university. He commenced his career at nineteen years age as a lecturer at Government College Bahawalpur. Then he went to Government College Sargodha. In 1984 he became the principal of Government Ambala Muslim College Sargodha. He became the Chief Bureau of Translation at International Islamic University, Islamabad and served there for six years. He authored and edited many books.
He was also the substantial translator of many texts like the translation of Federal Shariat Court Judgment on Bank Interest for Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His most celebrated research work is Arabi Adab Quabl az Islam, where he critically reviewed the pre-Islamic literature. His poems are best-known for their excellence and versatility. Some of his famous poems are Shakh-e-Tanha, Sarabon ke Sadaf, Rayegan, Imkan, Yakja, Deryaab and Nisbatain. Some of his famous essays are Taleef and Atraaf. He was also the head of the department of Arabic Department at Government College, Lahore. In 1995, he did seek for early retirement though he continued to be a visiting professor. He was also awarded with famous awards for his great contribution in literature, they are Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2008, Khalid Ahmed Award in 2013 and U.B, Literary Excellence Award in 2013 for his Urdu Poetries. He is one of the famous Urdu poets, researchers and men of letters in Pakistan.
