Vijay Kalyanji Shah aka Viju Shah (Born 5 June 1959) is a music director of Hindi cinema. He is the son of music director
Kalyanji Virji Shah of the famous composer duo Kalyanji-Anandji.
He composed music for super hit Hindi films including, Vishwatma (1992), Mohra (1994),
Tere Mere Sapne (1996) and Gupt (1997). He has been nominated for the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Music Director’ twice. Shah bagged the 1998 ‘Filmfare Award for Best Background Score’ for Boby Deol, Kajal and
Manisha Koirala starrer Gupt.
He and his wife Sunanda Shah have a daughter who is trained in Western Classical music. He started his career as a music composer of Indian cinema in the year 1992 with the movie Vishwatma where the song called ‘Saat Samundar Paar’ became very popular and still considered a favorite Hindi song to many.
However, his first breakthrough came in 1994 with the blockbuster film,
Akshay Kumar starrer Mohra. With the hit songs including ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast’, ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’, the music album of the film became the second most sold album of that year.
He was the composer of hit musical films including Tere Mere Sapne, Gupt, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat. During his 15 years career in the Indian film industry, Viju Shah partnered with many big names of Bollywood, such as
