Anurag Saikia, is an Indian film composer, music director, and instrumentalist from Assam. He is known as the youngest music composer. He was awarded Rajat Kamal’s Best Non-feature Film Music Direction for Film Yugadrashta, a short Assamese language film. He also worked as music director in recent movies of Bollywood ,including Article 15 and Thappad. Anurag Saikia belongs to Moran in Assam.
He completed his education from Cotton College, Guwahati. During college time, he met some musicians of Assam. Then he decided to study music in Chennai as he wanted to know more about Tamil culture and their music. Anurag belonged to a family of musicians. His father was known as the scholar and contribution of folk music of Bihu. His mother was a classical singer too. His Aunty worked as a radio Artist. Anurag studied in a prestigious college of music known as Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music.
Then after, He came to Mumbai in 2011 to try in the industry. From childhood, he used to listen to his father playing Beethoven and Mozart on the gramophone ,and his mother used to sing Borgeet with his father on the same scale. Anurag ,a national award winner, wanted to complete his childhood dream project Borgeet. He got opportunity to complete his dream Project produced by Zeal Creations. He also worked with singers like
, Arjit Singh, etc.
He also worked in albums like Kabir Singh ,which was super hit ,songs of M.S dhoni a film by Vishal Bharadwaj, Sanjay LeelaBhansali. He got 61st National Film Award for Best Music of film Yugadrashta. Then In 2010, he got Big Music Award for TupTup as Best Music Director likewise Prag Cine Award in 2013 and 2017 for Shinyor and MajratiKeteki as Best Music Director. He was also Nominated for the superhit movie song Of DhangalDhakad and one song ,Manjha. As Music director, his composed albums like One last question Yugadrashta, Holding Back, Maj Rati Keteki, The job, Karwaan, High Jack in 2018, Mulk (2018), Article 15 in 2019, Thappad in 2020. In series as music director, his song is Panchayat in 2020.
