Preeti Dayal is an Indian scriptwriter, film and television actress. She is an art student from Delhi, who has a passion for reading, writing, and acting ever since her college days. To pursue her passion, she has joined several amateur theaters. After college, she dabbled in doing computer graphics works. Luckily, a production house sends her to England to do a documentary about Moharram for Yorkshire TV. From there, she has written few stories aside from assisting the production house to do the camera works. Preeti started to write non-fiction stories and became an anchor as well until she decided to return to Delhi.

From there, she shifted to Mumbai together with her son and husband, Jogi Dayal. She believed that there are better opportunities in Mumbai. She started writing when Zee launches the television series, Rishtey. They were looking for writers, and she was asked to contact her friend, who at that time is the original choice for the serial. Unfortunately, her friend had to go to Kanpur and will not be able to meet the demand of presenting stories on short notice. The network asked her if she knows someone who can write stories.

From then, she handed her pile of scripts, which she penned and two of them were selected; the first one was entitled Halki Se Dhoop, and the other one was Pal Do Pal. Preeti also got the opportunity to write the screenplay and dialogue of the two. Acting happened to her by chance.
