Ashwini Chaudhary is a director in the Hindi Film Industry. He is famous for his movies Dhoop, Siskiyaan, Good Boy Bad Boy. He also worked as a Screenwriter for the movie
Jodi Breakers. The Bombay Casting Actors Workshop was established by him.
He is also currently the Vice President of the Indian Film and Television Director’s Association (IFTDA). He was born in Haryana to Professor Daulat Ram Chaudhary who was always amongst the first one to fight against and raise his voice towards injustice.
He made his first movie when he was in Delhi and later moved to Mumbai. He is married to Kumud Chaudhary and has two sons - Siddharth Chaudhary and Shubhankar Chaudhary. His siblings are sister Kamla Chaudhary (who is married to Mahesh Kumar) and brother Bhupinder Chaudhary (who is married to Rajshree) who has a daughter named Apurva Chaudhary. He also has a pet dog named Simon.
The director started his career with the movie Laado (2000) starring
Ashutosh Rana. It was a Haryanvi drama film which dealt with some serious issues regarding Haryana’s culture. He won the National Award for Best Debut Film of a Director for this film.
Later, he directed the movie Dhoop (2003), Siskiyaan (2005) and Good Boy Bad Boy (2007). Dhoop, a Bollywood war drama was based on the Battle of Tiger Hills, starring
Om Puri. It dealt with the serious topic of corruption in the Government and highlighted the treatment provided to the families of Indian soldiers who protect us from the enemies across the border.
His movie won the Zee Cine Awards 2003 for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Story. Siskiyaan, starring

Sonu Sood, was a Bollywood thriller story based on the confrontation of a woman, who had a traumatic past, with a stranger.
It also dealt with the Hindu Muslim relationships which are a matter of great concern in our society. Jodi Breakers (2012) is his latest movie. It is a Bollywood romantic comedy starring R. Madhavan and Bipasha Basu.
Because of its unusual pairing and the extraordinary songs and music, it became appealing to a large number of audience. Ashwini Chaudhary thought that the unpredictable casting and the out of the box thinking would attract many youngsters.
It was based on two people who take assignments of splitting married couples who are engaged in an unhappy marriage. He gave Madhavan a chance to change his good boy image on the screen to a much negative role.
He believed that this new role was a challenge and made it interesting to the audience. He believes his efforts paid off well. He considers this film to be the kind he always wanted to direct. Ashwini's name has appeared in certain controversies.
He is said to have walked out of the movie Good Boy Bad Boy in the middle of it's making. He was also supposed to direct Ghayal 2 for
Sunny Deol, which later he didn’t. He believes that the controversies occur when there is no professional and creative liberty to the director.
He firmly believes that every director has his way, his vision and he should be allowed his space. If that is disturbed, it will lead to controversies. His greatest achievement is the National Award he won as the Best Debut Director for his first film, Laado.
He considers this movie to be very special for him as he belongs from Haryana. He is currently working as the Vice President of IFTDA. He is also directing a Hindi television serial called
Rishton Ka Chakravyuh which airs on Star Plus.
