Padmini Kolhapure is an Indian Bollywood actress during the 80’s. She was born on November 1, 1965 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. She belongs to a Maratha Kshatriya household. Padmini is the daughter of Pandharinath Kolhapure, a classical singer and she is also the niece of the legendary singers, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Her sisters are Tejaswini Kolhapure, an Indian model and actress and Shivangi Kolhapure, a singer and the wife of Bollywood actor, Shakti Kapoor. She made a media fuss during the 80’s after kissing Prince Charles.
During her childhood, she sang for films likeKitab, Dushman Dost and the Bollywood drama film, Yaadon Ki Baarat. Later, Padmini sang on her films like Vidhaata, Hum Intezaar and she also sang Sadak Chaap along with Kishore Kumar. Subsequently, her album, Music Lovers was released with Bappi Lahiri. Padmini and Bappi also made a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, London for the Greater London Council in 1986. Her sister, Ashla suggested her name to film producer and director, Dev Anand and cast her in the 1974 Hindi film, Ishq Ishq Ishq. From there, she started to appear in various films like Dreamgirl, Zindagi, and Saajan Bina Suhagan. Padmini also gave her best performance as a school girl imposed by a black magic in the Indian horror film, Gehrayee by Vikas Desai and Aruna Raje in 1980.

One of her popular role as a child actress was from the 1978 Bollywood film, Satyam Shivam Sundaram under the direction of Raj Kapoor. The success that she got from Satyam led her to her most provocative role as a rape victim in the Hindi film, Insaaf Ka Tarazu by B.R. Chopra in 1980; where she earned the Best Supporting Actress at the Filmfare Award. This film is a remake of the 1976 drama film, Lipstick. Her last heroine role was from Nahir Hussain’s Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai in 1981, opposite Rishi Kapoor. However, the film did not make it to the box office, but Padmini and Rishi worked together again on Raj Kapoor’s Prem Rog in 1982. She won the Best Actress Award at the Filmfare for her portrayal as Manorama ‘ Rama’. She played as Chandra in the Bollywood film, Ahista Ahista, where she earned a special acting award.

Padmini also acted in the 1985 Bollywood film, Do Dilon Ki Dastaan with Sanjay Dutt. Some of her box-office hit films includes Vidhaata in 1982 and the feature film, Souten in 1983. She also made a big hit in the 198 Hindi film, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, which stars Mithun Chakraborty. The two was paired together several times in different films. Her first starrer film, Woh Saat Din with Anil Kapoor was also a hit and gained her popularity in the Indian film industry.

She got married to Pradeep Sharma, a popular Indian producer after she was cast in the film, Aisa Pyar Kahan. They have a child named, Priyank. Padmini took a short hiatus after she gave birth and returned in year 2004. She has done two Marathi films , Chimnee Pakhra and Manthan that turns out to be a huge hit and gained her Screen Award for Best Marathi Actress. In 2006, the actress played as Radha S. Rai in the Horror film, Eight – The Power of Shani by Karan Razdan. In 2012, she was debuted in the Malayalam film industry after bagging the role of Mankamma, the mother of Rudran (played by Indrajith) in the Malayalam film, Karmayohi, a film adaptation of Hamlet by Shakespeare.
In 2013, she made her television debut in the drama series, Ekk Nayi Pehchaan which was aired on Sony TV. She donned the role of Pallavi Mahesh Ajmera/Pallavi Suresh Modi.

Padma Khanna is a renowned Indian actress and director. She was born on March 10, 1949 in Benaras, India. She got married to Jagdish L. Sidana, a film director and after that, they moved to New Jersey, USA from where she founded the Indianica Dance Academy in Iselin, New Jersey. She has two children namely, Neha and Akshar Sidana. Padma and Jagdish decided to move to U.S. since their children wanted to pursue their studies there.Padma became a popular personality in Hindi and Bhojpuri films during the 70’s and 80’s. She is notable for the role she portrayed in the Bollywood drama film, Saudagar with the legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan in 1973 and in the Ramanand Sagar’s epic television series, Ramayan in 1987, where she played as Kaikeyi on Doordarshan channel. Besides acting, Padma is also a trained Kathak dancer under Birju Maharaj.Padma started her career when she was 12-years old in the Bhojpuri film entitled, Bhaiyya and made her first major break after essaying the role of Tara, a cabaret dancer in the blockbuster film, Johnny Mera Naam. Padma usually acted as a dancer in films like Loafer and in the 1979 Bollywood film, Jaan-e-Bahaar. She played as a double for Meena Kumari in the 1972 Indian film, Pakeezah while doing Mujra dance. Sidana in 2008. In 2004, the actress also directed a Bhojpuri film entitled, Nahir Hutal Jaya. Padma appeared in television series including Pehchaan on Hum TV, Taank Jhaank on Sony TV India and Metha Zaher on Doordarshan. Some of the Hindi films that she made were, Heer Raanjha, Seema, Pappi, Lakhan, Pyar Diwanam, Joshila, Anokhi Ada’ and a lot more. She also done many Bhojpuri films including Ganga Maiyya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo, Balam Pardesia, Mai, Godna, Kajari and more. She also bags a role in the Gujarati film, Gher Gher Maati Na Chula in 1977 and has done two Punjabi films including Jundri Yaar Di and Sher Puttar in 1978. She appeared in the song, Khel Kunala Daivacha Kalala in the 1983 Marathi film, Devta and in the song Shame Ne Jab Aag for the film, Maaficha Sakshidar in 1986. Padma also did a Bengali film entitled, Chhaila Baabu in 1970s.
